It's not a lot of snow, but it's freaking snow!! Which means we'll be doing all the tryouts, including our mile run inside the school. That sucks for everyone. Even the dogs are like "what the hell??" Plus, it's not helping the ice melt down at the boathouse. Come on Mother Nature... cut us some slack!
Our escapades as the Hyzy House navigates, college, high school and whatever else crosses our path!

I rest my case…. Bitch, Bitch, Bitch!
I don't know what the hell Mother Nature is doing, but she certainly has it in for Woodbridge Crew.. March FREAKING 17th and we have 8 inches of snow and another DAMN snow day! Our kids have had a grand total of 4 days of on the water practice and now we're off today and it doesn't look hopeful for tomorrow. First regatta is on Saturday… if we're lucky they'll get 3 more days and then have to race. It should be interesting. Not only that, we'll probably be going to school until July to make up for all the days we've missed. I'm so fricking tired of winter, but even more tired of the yo-yo. Friday we were on the water and it was almost 70 degrees. Today 8 inches of snow and 24 degrees. Get a grip Mother Nature. Make up your mind! I can't believe I'm going to have to put my snow pants on and go out and shovel on MARCH 17th! What is this Michigan?
Happy Snow St. Patricks Day!

A snow day WITH snow…finally
We did a little Cul-de-sac shovel party. That always makes things more fun - if we're all out there together! We got the whole cul-de-sac and even the road shoveled. Mike had his tractor out and we all went to town. He may only get to use that darn tractor once or twice every couple of years, but we sure are thankful for it when he does.
Even the boy got out there and did some work. He's virtually impossible to get out of his room and off the computer, but once you do, he's a damn hard worker. I'll give him that. Wouldn't it be nice though if they'd just jump up and "Oh yes, I want to help. Shoveling will be a fun family bonding adventure." That's what it would be like in Julie's LaLa Land! If I had my way :o)
The dogs got into it after a bit of hesitation. Of course they wouldn't go out and go pee, until we all went out to shovel. I don't understand how they can hold their pee for so long! They romped around for quite a bit. Zoey looked like a little cow gazelle. The snow came up past her belly so she had to leap and bound everywhere. It was pretty humorous.
The snow banks made perfect beer coolers for the guys. They were silly, like little kids, mainly I think because they felt a little naughty drinking beer at 1030 in the morning! But they worked hard and they deserved it. I certainly did not feel guilty eating the chocolate chip muffin I hid in the pantry when I finished!!

Snowflakes and Sci Fi!

We did end up getting a little bit of snow. Sadly, here in Virginia even a little bit of snow was enough to get us 2 snow days! I think we actually got about 2 inches of snow, but it was mainly mixed with rain, so it wasn't even very pretty or enjoyable. But I'm not going to argue with 2 days to do nothing. I spent them scrapbooking, catching up on projects and watching my favorite old Sci Fi movies. I watched Logan's Run, which is actually the first real Science Fiction movie I remember watching. I was in the 5th or 6th grade and we had a TV on a rolling cart that we could move from room to room. I snuck it in my room, turned all the lights off and kept the volume really low so I wouldn't get busted and I watched Logan's Run. I was fascinated and amazed by this movie. Next on my trip down memory lane... Fantastic Voyage! Oh how I loved this movie. They shrink the people down, and inject them into the human body and off they go. I was fascinated by it all. Lastly, The Andromeda strain! I think all these movies are why I love Science Fiction, why I'm a Lab Tech and why I love Microbiology so much. No matter how campy or out of date or silly they seem I love them. They are like comfort food for my brain. I'm so thankful for the 2 days to let me enjoy them again.Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Everyone's a flutter
We might actually get snow tonight and tomorrow! Something about March in Va. Everyone is in an uproar - a whole 3-6 inches... whatever shall we do. :o) Only thing I'm concerned about, is Brenna is driving home on Thurs, don't want her to worry about driving in bad weather. Plus, it's harder to row in the snow! Kidding... bring it on... a snow day wouldn't hurt my feelings!
